DRACONIA KEEP where Magic and Dreams Become Reality
March 6, 2007
Happy Birthday, Mikyla!
Happy birthday, Mikyla. We love you very, very much!
This morning at 5:30 I woke up groggy but determined to check on Aleyna. Lance, I knew, was over the worst of the flu because I'd already checked on him. He slept with us last night--I simply couldn't tell him no, and it doesn't happen but rarely.
The sun looked so warm. It was not blue-light like winter cold, but orange-light like Spring. It's not been a long winter, but in many ways it's been a difficult one. Being spoiled the first couple of months made January and February that much harder.
But though the temperature outside was only 10 o F, the sun is fighting his way through the cold. Spring is coming.
It is going to be a great day!
***The EF:JMARE was an astounding success! I'm very proud to be involved with such a hard-working and dedicated group of people who truly love the Morgan horse.
However, if you missed out on the breeding to Freddie, don't worry, the KalleCo Benefit Auction is still going on for another week and a half. Freddie's stud fee is only 1/2 the normal price, so check it out!
The Kallechy Family is located in Alberta, Canada. A silent auction and benefit dinner will be held on March 17, 2007.

***Also, I'm always looking for feedback on my Not-Quite-A-Blog, so please let me know what you like and dislike, agree or disagree with. I love hearing what others think.

So, again, Happy Birthday, Mikyla!
Here's the poem I wrote shortly before her first birthday...
Happy First Birthday, Wee Woman
My heart cherishes the
beginning of your life—
the joy of your warmth
your heartbeat,
your perfect tiny hands,
the cadence of your hiccups.
the radiance of your first tentative smile;
They all became the rhythm of your life;
And the music we danced to.
Now, a year later,
Incredulous, I thrill as your
first steps carry you
haltingly, unsure
falteringly away from the shelter
of my arms—never leaving for long
always returning to hide and rejoice
in your independence;
the journey of your life has begun.
(From now on,
bittersweet memories of your
tiny feet and sparkling eyes
must sustain me
when remembered, haunting,
hunger cries wake me
at four in the morning.)
Today and always
Never doubt we are proud of you,
Wee Woman.
(I just wonder,
Why did it have to go so fast?)
