Fulfill
I spent the day trying to catch the rain,
but I tripped over my shadow instead.
My mouth dry, I stumbled along the creek
and listened to the waterfall just up ahead.
I tried to run away, but I couldn't go fast enough
the words wouldn't come, no matter what I said.
I picked up a rock and threw it as far as I could.
I heard the splash and followed where it led.
I spent the night trying to catch the rain,
while the stream whispered along its bed
In the morning my shadow tripped me again
On parched land waiting to be fed.
The clear air filled my nose and my mind.
The rain caught me, and the answers were kind.
